Green Move-In

Think Green!

From Move-In to Move-Out, GW is committed to sustainability.  We encourage you to make Move-In green by taking the following actions:

  • Think about packing items in reusable containers such as bedding bags, storage containers, and milk crates.
  • Instead of buying bottled water, consider purchasing a water filer (i.e. Brita filter) or a reusable water bottle!  Consider buying green for other products too.
  • We're minimizing the amount of paper handouts you'll receive upon check-in, so plan ahead and print out only the necessary information for arrival such as campus maps, directions to your hall, local stores or restaurants, shopping lists and hub site locations.
  • If you bring cardboard moving boxes, or have pre-shipped items, break the boxes down and bring them to designated recycling areas in your hall. You could also send some home with your family to be reused.
  • GW has a robust recycling program.  Do your part by disposing of your water bottles, soda cans and other recyclable materials in the designated receptacles around campus on move-in day and throughout the year.
  • Familiarize yourself with conservation tips for GW residents.
  • Look for GW's coolest recycling truck, created through a design contest in 2008.  Can you spot it?
  • Become a proud member of your hall's Eco-Challenge team!
