The application for students to assist with Green Move Out closed on Monday April 13, 2009.  Applications are no longer being accepted for GW Students.

Clothing, Food, and Household Goods

Donation boxes for clothes, shoes, appliances, bedding, and non-perishable unopened food will be provided in all residence halls. Green Move-Out collection boxes will be provided in residence hall laundry rooms to reuse left over laundry detergent. Donation boxes for the residents of Mount Vernon Campus will be available in Somers Hall.


Items collected through the clothing, food and household goods drive, were distributed among the following charity partners:

Bread for the City
SOME (So Others Might Eat)
National Children’s Center
Local animal shelters
Capital Area Food Bank


Campus E-Cycling Drive

Students, faculty and staff can bring e-cycling (batteries, ink cartridges, computer monitors and computer parts, and cell phones) to the loading dock of the Support Building at 2025 F Street, NW. This is the building where you get your packages! Look out for Green Move-Out signs for specially designated drop-off locations! Students on the Mount Vernon Campus can drop off e-cycling in Somers Hall. Look out for Green-Move out sigs for specially designated drop-off locations!

REPORT FROM Green Move Out 2008:
in 2008, thanks to the help of more than 100 student and staff volunteers,more than 2,261 bags of donated clothing and other household items (11 1/2 truck loads), 4,500 books, 51 pieces of e-cycling materials and 3,000 pounds of food were delivered to our charity partners.
