First Year Experience

Self-Awareness

The experience of an incoming student of The George Washington University can expect in the Residential House System will be compellingly vibrant and remarkably unique. GW Housing Programs provides first-year GW students with the individualized attention and self-assessment for success that is unique compared to the experience their peers will have nationwide. In working with their House Proctor, first-year students will find tremendous value in the skills they will gain in the areas of academic persistence, self-assessment, and mediation education.

Cornerstone Experience

The GW Cornerstone is an online self-reflection tool designed to help you start thinking about the beginning of your GW career. Residents will be asked questions to start processing through the foundations of the first year at GW. Students are encouraged to use the tool for their own benefit and speak with their House Proctor about the survey. You may even win some prizes by having these conversations with the House Proctors. This short questionnaire is designed to help you start or continue thinking about the most important component of the first year…YOU!
