10 Simple Steps to Applying for Housing
Welcome GW Housing Programs and the GW community. In order to apply for on-campus housing for the Fall 2009 and Spring 2010 semesters, you will need to complete an electronic application form. All you have to do is follow these simple steps and you’ll be on your way to securing housing in no time.
Step 2: Click on the link that reads “Click here to enter the GW Housing Programs Web Portal”
Step 3: On the new window, login using your NetID and Password (the same information you use to log into Colonial Mail)
Step 4: On the left-hand side of the homepage you will see three links: Application, Bookings, Self Check-In/Out. Click on the link labeled "Application,” then click on “Apply for Housing” directly below.
Step 5: On this screen, please follow the directions VERY CAREFULLY. Use the drop down menu to indicate whether you are a newly admitted student or a returning student. Next, verify your profile details. If they are incorrect, click on the “GWeb Info System” link to make corrections. Please allow 24 hours for changes to be reflected. Once you have verified your information, and made all necessary changes, simply click next.
Step 6: On this screen, once again read and follow the directions VERY CAREFULLY. Use the drop down menu to choose the appropriate Colonial Cash plan for you for academic year 2009-2010. Also on this screen, you should order your building preferences. Click on “room type.” This will open a new window. At this point you can select which building you would like to live in. Choose the appropriate building from the drop down menu and click next. Make sure to choose lots of buildings, placing them in order from most highly preferred to least preferred. When making your selection, please be sure to select unique choices. Duplicating the request does not increase the likelihood of assignment in that particular house. Once you have finished these steps click next.
Note: The more buildings you preference the happier you will be with the result. Please visit the Residence Halls section of the living site to view the building designated for your particular class year.
Step 7: On this screen you have the option to request specific roommates utilizing their RMS ID. Be sure to get this number from your potential roommate. Enter the RMS ID in the appropriate location and the name of your potential roommate should show up directly to the right of the number. In addition on there is a lifestyle questionnaire that will assist in assigning you a compatible, at-random roommate. Complete the questionnaire by choosing “Yes,” “No,” or “No Preference” for each one of the questions. Once you have completed the questionnaire click next.
Step 8: On this screen, you will be asked to review all of the information you have entered. Please verify that all of you information, preferences, and questionnaire answers are accurate. Something to be aware of: red text, with regard to the desired roommates section, indicates a gender conflict.
Step 9: Once you have verified all of the information, scroll down. On the bottom part of the screen you will be required to view the Housing License and Agreement, Academic Year 2009-2010 . Please print this agreement for your records. You will also be able to view/print this document from the Rates, Policies and Forms section of this site.. Once you have reviewed the License Agreement and double and triple checked you housing preferences click “Continue.” This will submit your housing application for Academic Year 2009-2010. By clicking continue you are agreeing to the terms and conditions of the Housing License Agreement.
Step 10: After you have clicked continue a screen will appear that says “Thank you for submitting your housing application.” At this point you know GW Housing Programs has received you application and will be contacting you in the near future. You are officially on your way to becoming a GWU campus resident!
