Self Check-In

The information below is from the 2013 move-in. Information for Fall 2014 move-in will be available in June.

GW Housing, GW Facilities Services, and the Center for Student Engagement support and encourage a more paperless process for checking-in and checking-out of your residence hall room.

At the beginning of the fall and spring terms, students must log-into the GW Housing Portal to complete self check-in and provide up-to-date emergency contact information. It is important that students complete the self check-in process prior to arriving on campus as GWorld card building and/or suite access will not be activated until check-in has been completed.

Instructions For Housing “Self Check-In”

After you have reviewed the instructions below, please log-into the  GW Housing Portal to complete the Self Check-In process. Note: to complete the check-in process, you must turn off your pop-up blockers.

1. Login to the GW Housing Portal

Please remember to disable any pop-up blockers you may have activated. Once you have reached the login page, enter your NetID and your e-mail password. Your NetID is the first half of your GW e-mail address (ex. your NetID would be jsmith). Make sure to use all lower case letters for your NetID.

2. Introduction Page

Once you have logged-in to the  GW Housing Portal, you are presented with two sets of links on the left side: Bookings and Self Check-In. Bookings: This set of links will direct you to information about your housing assignment, roommate(s), and meal plan information. If you have been confirmed for an assignment for the full academic year, both semesters will be represented on this page.

3. Self Check-In

These links are where you will confirm your housing assignment and print out your “Check-In Registration Card” which will assist you in a quicker check-in process when arriving to campus.

4. Self Check-In Page

Once you click on the Self Check-In link, you will be brought to a page where you must update your emergency contact and missing person information, which will be printed on your “Check-In Registration Card.” Please Note: All fields with a red dot are required before proceeding. Once you have updated this information, click "Next" to proceed.

By clicking "Next", you are brought the confirmation page where you may verify all your assignment information once more prior to officially checking-in. If the information is correct, please click Check-In in the bottom right hand corner of the screen. If you ever need to return to this page to print out your Registration Card or update your emergency contact information, you may do so at any time.

After clicking Check-In, a new window will open which will contain your “Check-In Registration Card.” This is what you need to print out and bring with you to campus. Once you have printed this document, sign it, date it, and then you are all set to pick up your key at the Move-In Hub sites. Students who are moving into buildings that have room tap access and do not need a key do not need to print out their registration card.
