COVID-19: Mar. 30, 2020: Students on Campus During Virtual Learning - Preparing for April 5 Move-Out & Consolidation

Monday, March 30, 2020

Dear GW Residential Students:

You are receiving this email because you are one of the students who were approved to remain in campus housing through the initial virtual learning period before it was extended for the remainder of the semester.

As you are a current occupant of one of these buildings, we are contacting you before that email is issued so that we can request that you follow one of the two sets of procedures that pertain to your specific situation as a current resident.

Foggy Bottom Students

  • Moving out on or before April 5: Students should plan on completely moving out of the residence halls, including the removal of all of your property and possessions no later than 5 pm on your scheduled departure day (Check your March 26 email message). If you have questions about your move-out process, please raise that on the daily check-in form. You can find the link to Storage Squad below.
  • Approved for a short-term extension past April 5: A limited number of students were granted short-term extensions past April 5 but not until the end of the semester. You will likely stay in your current assignment and should plan on completely moving out of the residence halls, including the removal of all of your property and possessions no later than 5 pm on your scheduled departure day (Check your March 26 email message). If you have questions about your move-out process, please raise that on the daily check-in form. You can find the link to Storage Squad below.
  • Approved to stay on campus until May:  Students will be provided blue carts to individually facilitate your move to District House. To accommodate appropriate social distancing, moves will be scheduled at staggered times. You will receive additional information from Campus Living & Residential Living this week about relocating into District House for the remainder of your approved time on campus. Until then, you should begin to pack and prepare for the move. Aston residents will remain in their current assignments.

Mount Vernon Students on Foggy Bottom

  • Moving out on or before April 5 & those with short-term extensions: Students should plan on completely moving out of the residence halls, including the removal of all of their property and possessions no later than 5 pm on their scheduled departure day (Check your March 26 email message). We are making plans for you to return to MVC and gain temporary access to your room to pack and move out. If you have questions about your move-out process, please raise that on the daily check-in form. You can find the link to Storage Squad below.
  • Approved to stay on campus until May: You will be moving to District House for the remainder of the semester. To accommodate appropriate social distancing, moves will be scheduled at staggered times. We are arranging for any belongings left in your MVC rooms to be brought to Foggy Bottom. You will receive additional information from Campus Living & Residential Living about the relocation scheduled.

Thank you for your continued understanding as we respond to the evolving situation.
