Shipping & Storage

You may use a vendor of your choosing to ship belongings directly to campus. Items must be sent to the appropriate mailing address for the residence hall you will be living in and be clearly labeled.

• Packages may be picked up from Mail & Package Services.
• Please note that the use of portable storage devices such as PODs or similar container services is prohibited.

In preparation for the end of semester move-out, the CLRE team is excited to partner with a new summer storage solutions team -- U Storage, a premier storage provider for student storage needs.

This new alliance aims to streamline the storage process for students and families, by offering an affordable and hassle-free solution to safeguard your belongings over the summer. U Storage is GW’s exclusive provider authorized to access residence hall rooms for both pickup and delivery.  U Storage will begin accepting sign-ups for their storage service on Monday, April 1.

Here's How it Works:

• Students can easily register at UStorage.org/GWU.
• Receive eco-friendly U Storage Bags and personalized labels delivered directly to your doorstep.
• Your packed items will be collected from your dorm room after you've departed for summer break.
• Rest assured, your belongings will be securely stored in our climate-controlled facility.
• Before the commencement of your next term, your items will be promptly delivered to your new dorm room.
• Additionally, U Storage extends its services to accommodate students studying abroad, offering worldwide shipping for your convenience.

Use of Other Storage Options

GW does not provide storage on campus.  While we recommend using our preferred provider, students can choose any company they wish for storage and shipping services.  There are numerous vendors in the DC area that do provide storage and many offer their services on campus during the move-out period. As these are all independent companies not affiliated with the university, we recommend researching each company before storing your items with them.  Other companies are not allowed into the residence halls and rooms unescorted and should you use their services you will be required to arrange pick-up and delivery at a time when you are present on campus.

• These companies will not be permitted to come unescorted into your room to pick-up your belongings this spring. As you depart campus at the end of this semester, you will be required to coordinate with that company for a pickup prior to your departure from campus. Also, you will not be permitted to leave any to-be-stored belongings in your room for an after move-out pick-up. When you depart, your room will need to be completely cleaned and emptied of all belongings.
• These companies will not be permitted to deliver items ahead of your arrival to campus next academic year. Non-approved companies will not be granted access to drop off your belongings in your room before you arrive for next academic year. When you arrive back on campus (either in the fall or spring, if you study abroad), you will be required to coordinate with them for delivery of items to your room on your own.
• GW and the Campus Living & Residential Education team are not responsible or able to assist if any issues arise with your use of a non-preferred storage service company.
