Each of our five residential neighborhoods has at least one Neighborhood Hub location.  At these hubs, student staff known as Operations Assistants are staffed waiting to offer assistance to GW residents.  Need a screwdriver?  Boardgame?  Need to check out a blue cart to carry in groceries or a particularly bulky package from Mail and Package Services?  Our neighborhood hubs are here to help.  Located centrally in each neighborhood, the hub site is a place that our residents can go to get the help they need and to build community with their fellow members of the neighborhood.  Items to check out include kitchen utensils, technology needs, office supplies, blue carts, board games, cleaning supplies, tools, and single-use health supplies.

Community Engagement Assistant (CEA) Spotlight

OA Siphia Martinez-Tohmi

"My favorite part of being a CEA is being able to decorate the residence hall lobbies! My hope is that students feel like they are coming into a place where they feel at home and it makes me happy to hear them get excited when they see the decorations. This allows me to stay connected and engaged with my fellow peers. As a college student, life can get stressful but I am glad to be a part of a team that is making a positive impact on the GW community."

"My favorite thing about being a CEA is that I get to meet so many incredible people through my job! I have made impactful connections with coworkers, neighbors, and others in the GW community, allowing me to make some amazing friends throughout the process. Becoming more involved on campus through the CLRE has been extremely rewarding and has helped me feel more connected to the school and to my peers."

Visit our Hub Events

About once a month, each of our neighborhood hubs will host a hub engagement event, encouraging students to stop by the desk for grab-and-go items. These hub events provide a great opportunity for residents to connect with the Community Engagement Assistants and learn more about what support the CEAs can provide, and allow for our CEAs to build a stronger community with the residents of the neighborhood.

Events are often held on national holidays or the changing of the seasons, and will often have free snacks, crafts, or activities that students can participate in while stopping by the desk. Previous hub events have included National Pretzel Day celebration, card making and stamps for the holidays, DIY Gratitude Turkeys, Treats for Finals, and much more! Be on the lookout for more hub engagement events on Engage, and be sure to stop by your friendly neighborhood hub for the next one!
