Spring Extended Stay

Spring 2023 Move-out

All students must vacate their housing assignment by Wednesday, may 17, 2023 at 12:00pm EDT.

After this time, residents who have not fully vacated their space will be charged a $150 improper check-out fee.

These groups will be approved extended stay housing and just need to apply for Extended Stay via the E-Services Portal.

  • Graduating Seniors
  • CLRE Spring 2023 Transitions Assistants
  • Students who have a summer housing reservation for a Summer Session
  • Students working for a GW department that has an approved request for staff.

These groups may submit a request to be considered for extended stay:

  • Siblings of graduating seniors who currently live on campus
  • Green Move-Out volunteers
  • Spring Commencement volunteers
  • Students who believe they have an extenuating circumstance

Failure to plan accordingly for the published move-out date does not constitute sufficient grounds for Extended Stay Housing.

The Extended Stay Housing Policy allows students to remain living on campus until May 23, 2023 at 12:00pm EDT at the latest. Only students who have requested and been approved for Extended Stay housing will have GWorld access to their residence hall and their room during this time.  Extended Stay Housing cannot be extended beyond unless a student is living in on-campus GW Summer Housing.  Extended stay is not provided as a short-term housing option for students who may have an off-campus lease.  All students, regardless of the reason they are requesting housing, must complete the online request form. This includes students working for a GW department, participating in university-sponsored events or activities, individual requests, and international students.

Students who are approved for Extended Stay Housing are subject to all campus and residence hall policies.  Additionally, residents are not permitted to have any overnight guests who are not approved for Extended Stay Housing during this extended housing period.  Any violation of policy can result in immediate loss of Extended Stay Housing, requiring a student to immediately vacate campus.

Applying for Extended Stay Housing

Extended Stay Application Timeline

The Extended Stay Application will be open from March 8 - May 4.  Students who need to request Extended Stay Housing will apply through their E-Services Portal.  In the application, students will be asked for their reason for needing to stay past the May 17 residence hall closure.  Students should be ready to provide their rationale on the application.

Individual Extended Stay Requests

The 2023 Spring Extended Stay Application will be available via Campus Living E-Services when released.  *Completing a request for Extended Stay Housing does not guarantee that you will be approved.

Requests from a GW Department

Campus Living and Residential Education will collect information from GW departments about students who are required to stay after spring closing for on-campus commitments.  Departments who would like to inquire about their students staying in the residence halls past the May 17 residence hall closure date can reach out to [email protected] with these inquiries.
