2025-2026 Housing Registration for Students with DSS Accommodations

All students who have specific, approved room type accommodations are eligible to register during the DSS Housing Registration Period. Eligible room type accommodations include:

• Singles: Single (Suite Style), Single (Non Suite Style), Single (Any Style)
• Double
• Private Kitchen
• Private Bathroom
• Fully Accessible Units

If registering during this period, each student must register for housing while the DSS period is open. If a student fails to register for DSS housing during the published open dates, they will need to register during the General Housing Registration Period.

It is highly recommended by CLRE that if a student is currently in a room that meets their needs and the space is eligible for room renewal, the student should register during the room renewal period.

DSS Housing Registration Timeline

Please note that any student registering during the DSS period will only be able to access the DSS Housing Registration Form based on their accommodation status as of January 28, 2025. Students receiving specific room type accommodations after January 28, 2025 are recommended to register during the General Housing Registration Period and Campus Living & Residential Education will work to find an assignment that meets their approved accommodation.

Steps to Take to Participate in DSS Housing Registration

While DSS Housing Registration opens on Tuesday, January 28, students can begin some initial steps today.

Step #1: Create Roommate Groups (If Pulling-In Friends Into Anticipated Vacant Spaces)

Available Beginning January 16

Students with accommodations permitting multiple room occupants may request roommates if desired (i.e single (suite style), double occupancy accommodations, etc.)

• The student with the accommodation should create the group and be the Group Leader. Friends being pulled-in should be members of the group.

Students may begin to complete roommate matching questions, form roommate groups, and search for potential roommates in their GW Home portal starting Thursday, January 16.

Step #2: Individual With Accommodations Completes Housing Registration

Students with specific room type accommodations should complete the DSS Housing Registration Form between Tuesday, January 28 at 12:00 PM EST and Tuesday, February 11 at 4:00 PM EST.

If a student is pulling-in friends, those friends must first wait for their roommate group leader to register.

Step #3: Group Members Getting Pulled-In Complete DSS Housing Registration

Available January 28 - February 11

If a student is pulling-in friends during the DSS Housing Registration Period, once the group leader completes their registration, other group members being pulled-in may then complete their housing registration by choosing a meal plan and signing their Housing License Agreement.

Students must complete DSS housing registration by Tuesday, February 11 at 4:00 PM EST.

On or before February 19, Campus Living & Residential Education will release housing assignments for students participating in the DSS Housing Registration Period. 

Frequently Asked Questions: DSS Housing Registration

What if I am already comfortable in a space that meets my accommodations, and I want to keep it?

The room renewal process is highly encouraged for students with DSS accommodations who are already in a space that fits their needs. All students with a DSS housing accommodation currently living in a single unit are eligible for room renewal. You can register for that process in the GW Home portal between January 28 and February 11.

What if I am currently in a room that fits my accommodation, but I am not eligible for room renewal?

Students who are currently in a room that fits their accommodations and are unable to renew their room are encouraged to register during the DSS Housing Registration Period. This will allow our team to ensure you are assigned to a space that also fits your needs for the 2025-2026 academic year. 

What if I am approved for DSS housing accommodations after the DSS Housing Registration period closes?

If you are approved for accommodations after the registration period ends, you will still need to register in order to get housing next academic year, and thus you will need to register during the general housing registration period. 

You will have the chance during general housing registration to rank all room type options that GW offers to your class year. You may rank those room types that meet your accommodation as your first preference. If at all possible, the CLRE Team will still try to honor your DSS accommodation and place you in the correct room type. 

Which spaces may not be eligible for room renewal?

There are some populations living on campus that are not eligible for room renewal. These populations include current first year students living in first year buildings, Mitchell Hall residents, and FSK Hall residents.
