Summer Housing and Roommate Selection Options

  • The residence halls currently open this spring including 1959 E, District House, FSK, Potomac, Shenkman and South will remain open this summer. Lafayette will be the next hall to open if there is additional student interest in summer housing.
  • To the extent possible, you will remain assigned to your current unit/space, unless you form a new roommate group (see below).
  • If you currently live in Potomac House and chose to remain in campus housing this summer you may be relocated to a building with a kitchen. During the summer it is likely that some on-campus dining partners will close or have more limited hours and a room with a kitchen will be helpful for meal preparation.
  • Forming a New Summer Roommate Group: You may select to live with other current on-campus residents for the summer. Roommate groups can consist of 2 or 4 students. Four person roommate groups will be assigned to South Hall, if space permits. Please note that roommate groups may be separated if space is not available and we cannot guarantee that all roommate grouping will be honored as assignments are based on availability. Unless all students in the roommate group live in the same unit this semester, students who form a roommate group may be moved to a new building in order to accommodate the roommate groups.
  • All roommate groups, whether it is a current spring roommate group or a new group forming for summer, will need to identify their roommate group via E-services as a part of the housing application portal. Also, if your plans are to keep the same roommate group for summer and for next academic year, please include that detail as part of your application. Note: the roommate selection forms are not available as of this email and will open as part of the summer housing process after Spring Break.
  • Current on-campus residents will not be eligible to live with current off-campus students this summer. Current on-campus students must choose a summer roommate group based on who is living in the halls this spring.  Students who are not currently living in campus housing (ie: off-campus students) will only have the option to apply for summer housing if there is inventory available after the spring resident application process has closed.
  • Roommate groups must be formed and confirmed by the time the application closes on Monday, March 29 at 4 pm. Please be aware that if you form a roommate group, you may be assigned to a new room and new building on campus.
  • As we are continuing to follow health, safety and social distancing guidelines, students will not have the option to pick a specific room or hall. CLRE will be assigning all rooms and housing for the summer.

Cost of On-Campus Housing and Student Account Billing Cycle

  • The cost for living in on-campus housing for the full summer is $3,400.
  • The term for summer housing starts on Monday, May 19 and continues until Saturday, Aug. 21. Once you choose to live in summer housing, we are providing you a room for the entire summer.
