4th-Year Students & Friends Housing Application
2022-2023 Rising 4th-Year & Friends Process
Although not required, many of our 4th-year students enjoy living on campus during their last semesters at GW. We invite all interested rising 4th-year students to apply in this phase. We also know that many of our 4th-year students choose to live with friends that may be rising 2nd- or 3rd-year students.
A rising 4th-year student must invite their desired rising 2nd- or 3rd-year students into a roommate group for them to be able to apply for housing during the 4th-year and friends phase. If the rising 2nd- or 3rd-year students do not accept the roommate invitation, they will not be able to apply during this phase.
Application Timeline
Application Opens: Tuesday, March 1st, 2022 at 10 AM EST

4th-Year Student cancellation No-Fee Deadline: Tuesday, March 15th, 2022 at 5 PM EST
Please note if you are a rising 4th-year student who applied to live on campus, and no longer desire to live on campus, you must cancel your 2022-2023 housing by March 15th at 5 PM EST to avoid being charged a $125 cancelation fee.
Additionally, if a rising 4th-year student with rising 2nd- or 3rd-year roommates cancels their housing (leaving no rising 4th-year students within the assigned room) CLRE will remove the rising 2nd- or 3rd-year students from the room and have them apply through the rising 2nd- and 3rd-year phase.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: 4th-years & friends
A rising 4th-year student is able to "pull in" their rising 2nd- or 3rd-year friends by creating a roommate group. A rising 4th-year student would become the roommate group leader, and submit their application first. The rising 4th-year student would then invite the other students to join the roommate group. All students joining the roommate group must accept the invitation to take part in the rising 4th-year and friends application process.
No, there is no priority given to roommate groups that are exclusively made up of rising 4th-year students. However, roommates groups led by rising 4th-year students are assigned in early March. Roommate groups led by 3rd- and 2nd-year students are assigned housing in late March.
No. South Hall is open to rising 4th-, 3rd-, and 2nd-year students.
Rising 4th-year students can still apply for housing after the application period closes. However, CLRE is unable to guarantee that housing will be available to any rising 4th-year students that apply late.
No. If you are a rising 4th-year student who does not desire to live on campus, no further action is required.
Rising 4th-year students who applied for housing and were given an assignment are able to cancel their housing through the E-Services portal.
Rising 4th-year students who cancel their housing before 5:00pm on March 15, 2022 will not be charged a cancellation fee. Rising 4th-year students who cancel after the above date will be charged a $125 cancelation fee.
