Campus Living & Residential Education (CLRE) employs students in positions that incorporate programmatic, logistical, and community-building elements into each role in the hopes that students will find that these more focused and tailored roles will help them develop more skills and knowledge as they identify what they are most passionate about.

Student positions offered by CLRE are both Federal Work-Study and non-Federal Work-Study. Students who are interested in a particular position should visit the GW Student Employment Talent Management for vacancies.  While the hiring season for student positions primarily occurs in March and April for the upcoming academic year, positions open and close throughout the year and we encourage students to check in often to see if there are any current openings.

Attention all rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors seeking an on-campus job next academic year: 

Campus Living & Residential Education (CLRE) invites you to apply for our 2024-2025 student staff positions. Individual interviews will be held between 10 am - 4 pm on:

  • Monday February 26 on Foggy Bottom
  • Tuesday February 27 on Foggy Bottom
  • Wednesday February 28 on the Mount Vernon Campus

Following individual interviews, offers will be extended to participate in a Group Process session on Saturday March 2 either in the morning or early afternoon. 

Interested students must be available for both an individual interview and the Group Process session!

Please review our two student staff positions and apply by Monday February 19. Information regarding scheduling an interview time with our team will be sent by February 23.

 


Community Engagement Advisors (CEAds)

CLRE invites you to apply to be a Community Engagement Advisor!

Who Are Community Engagement Advisors?

We are looking for GW students who want to make a positive impact in our first-year residence halls. Community Engagement Advisors (CEAds) provide essential programming and community-building support to fully occupied residence halls on the Foggy Bottom and Mount Vernon campuses. CEAds work within their assigned buildings to foster an intentional sense of community and belonging. In this hourly paid role, CEAds can expect to spend 10 hours per week activating their residential community. Overall, the role of CEAds involves a proactive and hands-on approach to community building, where the focus is on creating a vibrant and supportive residential environment that enhances the overall living experience for residents while instilling a strong sense of affiliation with GW. The 10 hours per week commitment reflects the dedication required to successfully carry out these responsibilities.

Position Responsibilities
  • Live in an assigned first-year residence hall to build positive relationships with residents

  • Develop programs and events focused on building interpersonal connections and relationship-building among residents

  • Design and hang door decorations for each member of the building community 

  • Facilitate the roommate agreement process 

  • Support and mediate conversations with residents experiencing roommate concerns or conflicts.

  • Utilize community trends to identify community development needs for the residential community

  • Collaborate with fellow CEAds and Community Coordinators to create spaces and programs to meet the needs of the residential community.

  • Refer residents to the necessary on- or off-campus resources, as needed.

  • Design and hang door decorations for each member of the building community

  • Perform knock & chats, walkabouts, and hold more purposeful 1:1 conversations with residents who are not as engaged in the community

  • Assist with helping orientation partners through facilitating community meetings, roommate agreements, and walking/guiding first-year students to community building events around campus

  • Return to campus early (Aug. 10 - Aug. 11) for training

Perks of the Position
  • Housing assignment in one of GW’s first-year residence halls on the Foggy Bottom or Mount Vernon Campus. Roommates can be considered upon request. 

  • A $3,000 housing credit for the academic year ($1,500 for fall semester and $1,500 for spring semester).

  • Hourly salary of $17.20 per hour for approximately 10 hours per week.

Preference may be given to students with Federal Work Study (FWS).

All CEAs will work together towards a shared goal of creating experiences and spaces for residents to connect with one another, find belonging in their community, and develop affinity for GW.
