Transitions Assistant

The Division for Student Affairs Campus Living and Residential Education team seeks Fall Semester Student Transitions Assistantswho will support the residence halls with both opening and closing activities or otherwise known as move-in and move-out.  Team members selected for this role will focus on supporting and engaging residents as they return and depart from campus at the start and end of the fall semester.  Potential tasks for this role include: prepping the residential buildings, hanging bulletin boards and door tags, performing room checks, serving at check in hub site desks, checking blue carts in and out, supporting engagement programs, and/or other administrative customer service support.

To apply for the position, students must be able to meet the following requirements:  

  • Move into their fall assignment on Friday, August 13 
  • Perform fall opening student transition tasks from August 15  to 29  
  • Perform fall closing transition tasks  on November 30 and again from December 11 to 23
  • Leave no earlier than Thursday, December 23 at 4pm  

Team members are expected to be available within the date ranges outlined above.Both move-in and move-out processes are two week periods, and team members will be scheduled to work  approximately 14 hours each week.  In consideration of the timeliness and priority to complete certain tasks to assist our residential student population, only in class/ exam conflicts will be taken into account when scheduling.  We are not able to accomodate any other conflicts.  Some work will be done in the morning and some may extend into the evening.  Students cannot dually serve in orientation or peer guide roles due to scheduling overlap. 

Team members selected will receive a $1,500 housing reduction for the fall semester.  This reduction will be split up, with half being reflected on students accounts within the first two weeks of classes, and the other half after closing.   

Applications are open now and with our priority deadline being Friday June 25 at 4 pm EDT; students who apply by this date will receive selection notifications on Wednesday, June 30.  Applications that are received after this date will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and students will be contacted by our team if they are selected.  For those interested in this position for the spring semester, a separate application process will be made available mid semester; those who have successfully served in the role previously will be prioritized into these positions for the Spring.
